Our story

I’m Caroline, and in 2017 I moved to Kampala where I met Bridget working at the same microfinance. One day over lunch, Bridget let slip she has dreams of opening a library and the seed for Read to Dream was planted.

I’d always had the same dream. So months after that initial comment, I reached out and we started making plans to open our first school library.

We grew up on different sides of the world with the same love of stories. We came from families and schools with access to books and both feel incredibly grateful we were given the opportunity to fall in love with reading.

The research shows how life changing reading can be. It isn’t only a pleasure and it shouldn’t be exclusionary based on your geography. That’s why we’re so passionate about giving children in Uganda access to books so they can #readitpossible.

Thank you for joining our mission to get children reading and dreaming. We couldn’t do it with you.

Bridget’s favourite childhood book: ‘Cinderella’

Caroline’s favourite childhood book: ‘Ruff’ by Jane Hissey. (My Dad gave each animal the best voices)
